Meeting Notes: The notes from the last meeting on March 19th, 2016 were approved as written by Linda Knapp.
Financial Report: Antonette Benham reported that our primary account has $1,843.16 and our KM support account has $660.48.
Venue Committee Report: The committee comprised of Linda Knapp, Dennis Shanlian , Jeanne (Stewart) Urquhart, Leslie (Moon) Meisner, Dave Johnson and Greg Bailey reported on the 5 Venues under consideration for our Saturday night (July 22nd, 2017) dinner event. The committee toured 4 of the 5 venues, met with each venue representative, gathered pertinent information and reported back to our full reunion committee. After considerable discussion, the committee decided to select the Green River College (formerly Green River Community College-GRCC) for our dinner event. Green River College was deemed to best meet our criteria for proximity, cost, facility functionality, parking and accessibility.
Food Selection: The committee voted to have a menu of “Elegant Super Hors D’oeuvres” for our Saturday night food. Nancy Roddy and Nancy (Olson) Lyle will attend a tasting event at Green River College and then recommend the menu for our Saturday night dinner.
Pay-It-Forward / KM 66, 67 and 68 classes: The KM Class of 66 has asked if we are interested in helping each other with the “night of” event registration desk tasks. We decided to reciprocate with them, to offer our services to the class of 1968 and suggest that they keep a “pay-it-forward” movement with consequent classes.Volunteers for Friday night, August 12th from 5:30 to 6:30 are: Karen Busey, Francine, Dave Johnson and Steve Whitehead. The Saturday night, August 13th from 5:30 to 7:00 volunteers are: Jeanne Stewart, Alyce Slightam, Leslie Meisner and Linda Rogers. Both events will be at the Fairwood Golf and Country Club.
Golf Event: Susan (Moore) Newman is organizing a golf event on Friday, July 21st at a local course. Courses considered are Fairwood, Meridian Valley, Wilderness, Maplewood, and Riverbend in Kent. The event will be some sort of “user friendly” 2 or 4 ball scramble in order to encourage participation and fun.
Photography: The committee is suggesting an all classmates picture of the Saturday night dinner attendees and possibly a ”photo booth” that same night. The photo booth would be available for any combination of classmates to get a picture together, have an immediate printout and digital copies available to all. The photography committee (Chuck Joiner) will be asked to research the photo booth idea and bring recommendations to the full committee.
Social Media: The committee is looking for someone with advanced technological experience who would like to take over as webmaster for the KMclassof67.com website. Committee members and all classmates on Facebook are asked to regularly post items of interest to our classmates on our KM Class of 1967 Reunions facebook page. Other sites and services could be used more also, including Classmates, Google Plus, Linkedin and Twitter to name a few.
Women’s Luncheon: Antonette Benham will look into the possibility of having a Women’s Luncheon on Friday, July 21st, 2017.
KM 67 Banner: Linda Rogers will cost out a large Kent-Meridian Banner that can be used for our large group pictures and possibly be “paid forward” for use at other class reunions, ie: 67, 68, 69, etc.
Master OF Ceremony (MC): Larry (Smith) Albert has accepted the committee’s request for him to be our Master of Ceremonies for the Saturday night dinner event.
Tour of KM Campus: We will be scheduling a tour of the campus on Saturday afternoon, July 22nd, 2017.
Next Meeting: Our next full committee meeting will be on Saturday, September, 17th, 2016 at 1:00 at the Golden Steer Restaurant. Anyone (on committee or not) wanting to eat lunch with us can join us at noon in the 1880’s room.
